and rewarding lives. Vice Chair Waldman pointed out that the City Commission
directed this Board to determine the childcare needs in the City. The intent of the
project is to reduce duplication of these efforts and improve efficiency and
effectiveness in the State. The first phase will be to integrate two agencies that
provide the same services, i.e. the School Readiness Coalition of Palm Beach
and the Maternal Child Family Health Alliance.
Vice Chair Waldman will contact Ms. Nicole King of Children's Services Council
at 655-1010, extension 180, for more information to determine if this is a project
that the Board should become involved in. The web site is
www.wholechildproiect.org. The letter was distributed to the members to peruse.

A. Advisory Board Forum - Report
Ms. Wilkinson reported on the Advisory Board Forum. Present at the Forum
were one representative from Parks and Recreation Board, two from the
Community Relations Board and one from the Senior Advisory Board. There
also was a representative from P.A.T.C.H. The Forum proved very interesting
and informative.
Members expressed concerns that the Senior Advisory Board feels that their
services are no longer needed now that the Senior Center is in operation.
Members felt that there are still many issues facing the seniors in the City that
need to be addressed. Ms. Miller stated that since the Recreation Department
has taken over, the seniors are not being asked to participate in the decision
making and feel that they been pushed aside.
Members discussed an article that appeared today in the Sun-Sentinel, which
discussed the lack of participation by the Black Community in the Senior Center..
Vice Chair Waldman requested that Ms. Miller bring the article to the next
meeting. Ms. Miller said that the registration process is too difficult for many
elderly who cannot complete the forms. Also Ms. Miller felt that it was too
cumbersome to have to make a reservation to be picked up by the bus by calling
the day before. Many elderly people cannot remember this process and should
be picked up without having to call. Ms. Stern felt that this was a common
problem shared by the entire aging population.
There was a consensus that members would like to see the Senior Advisory
Board continue and commended them for having done an excellent job in the
past.

Ms. Stern reported that she read in the newspaper that the Chris Evert
Foundation supports the youth of South Palm Beach. Ms. Stern thought it would
be to the Board's benefit to write to the foundation to determine if any of the

among the members that Ms. Stern follow through on this by sending a letter to
the Foundation. She was advised to contact Ms. Claude to obtain the necessary
