Advisory Board Minutes
March 28, 2001
Present: Board members: Betty Boroni, Marva Collins, Madon Grammer, Dan Holthouse, Alice Otis,
Valede Pleasanton, Dorothy Walker, and altemate Judy Sanders. Library Director: Virginia Farace.
The meeting was called to order by chair, Valerie Pleasanton, at 3:20 p.m. The minutes of the February
28 meeting were approved as distributed.
There was no correspondence.
Unfinished Business:
Library director, Virginia Farace, reported the final draft of the CIP grant applications is almost complete.
Details will be presented at the next meeting.
Library Director's Report:
The LSTA grant is providing funds for computers and computer classes at other locations. The classes
should be starting in mid-May after the rest of the hardware is received and the volunteers are trained.
Marion Grammer presented a terrific program on Women's History. The Library's display at the Boynton
GALA was well received. A Community Welcome program for Dr. Walter Comnell is to be held Monday,
April 2 in the program room. Board members were encouraged to attend. The Library Quilters will show
their handiwork at the Quilt Show at the Boynton Woman's Club the first weekend in April. Virginia invited
everyone to come. Commissioner Ferguson allocated $5,000 of his Commission funds to be used to
promote Youth Literacy. Chair will write a thank you note. Dr. James Pratt, from Florida A&M university
gave an interesting speech at the African-American Book Club gathering as part of the program.
Announcements:
Volunteers for the Friends of the Library have donated a phenomenal number of volunteer hours. They
are recognized at the annual meeting. E-books are now available through the Boynton Beach City
Library. Get a password at the reference desk to access this selection of electronic books.
The meeting was adjourned at 4:15 p.m. The next meeting will be held on April 25.
