Ms. Joy Currier announced that HeadStart would be preparing and delivering more
than a thousand turkey dinners on Thanksgiving Day. Chairman Washam thanked
Ms. Currier for her steadfast dedication to the project that she had led for many
years. HeadStart, in cooperation with the Police Department, prepares food and
delivers it to area shut-ins and families in need. Ms. Currier sought donations to fund
this effort.
Chairman Washam indicated that the Hypoluxo/Lantana Kiwanis organization would
also be distributing turkeys on Thanksgiving Day and that he would be submitting at
least twenty Boynton Beach names. He asked interested parties to contact him if
they desired to participate.
Chairman Washam advised that there would be a Four-Board Forum on Saturday,
November 17 at the library from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. This forum is held for the
purpose of sharing between the people-oriented City Advisory Boards: Senior
Advisory Board, Education Advisory Board, Community Relations Advisory Board,
and the Advisory Board on Children & Youth. Chairman Washam encouraged

Vice Chair Miller told the Board about this special meeting sponsored by the Community
Relations Board and the Boynton Beach P.A.T.C.H. (Planned Approach to Community
Health) organization. This program is being offered to the public and Vice Chair Miller
encouraged the Board members to come a little early to help set things up.
The program will feature Russ Accardi from Delray Beach Fire Rescue, who is the lead
trainer in Delray Beach and just came back from leading a rescue team at Ground Zero.
He will put on a slide presentation followed by a discussion. Dr. Stanley Feist, a
licensed mental health counselor working for the American Red Cross, will speak. Dr.
Feist just returned from New York where he was training the crisis workers. Mr. Edward
Houck, also a licensed mental health counselor, will speak about Post Traumatic Stress
and the ways in which we can turn difficulties into positives in our lives. The Red Cross
is sending several people as well. There will be a question and answer period after the
program.
Chairman Washam encouraged the Board members to attend the program since this
was the first of many events they hoped to co-host with P.A.T.C.H. in the future. He also
stressed that the Community Relations Board would be sitting as a regular Board at the
meeting.
