86-RRESOLUTION NO. 86- ~ A RESOLIIfION OF THE CIRY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING AN ADVISORY COmmITTEE FOR THE PURPOSE OF REVIEWING THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH SIGN' CODE AND MAKING REC~ATIONS TO THE CITY COUNCIL WITH RESPECT TO THE ~DDERNIZATION OF THE SIGN CODE. WHEREAS, it has been resolved by the City Council of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, that the Sign Code of the City of Boynton Beach should be reviewed with respect to current trends in regu- lation and control of signs and in particular the amortizaton of non- conforming signs, size of signs, location of signs, types of signs permitted and prohibited and the goals of the City with respect to the modernization of the Sign Code. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOY~iON BEACH, FLORIDA: Section 1. An Advisory Co~nittee is hereby appointed to review a limited number of issues related to the existing Sign Cede of the City of Boynton Beach and recommend modification of the existing Sign Code for review by the Planning and Zoning Board of the City Council of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida. The Committee shall con- sist of a joint representative of the Planning and Zoning Board and the C~Lunity Appearance Board, a joint representative of the Co~nunity Redevelopment Agency and the Chamber of Ccm~nerce, and a joint represen- tative of the Garden Club and the Boynton Art Leaguer and each of these joint entities is requested to designate a representative at their earliest convenience. In addition, the City Council will appoint a member of a local sign company, a local architect or engineer, and two (2) citizens at large to this Conmtittee. Section 2. Following appointment of all members and designated representatives, the ¥~yor shall designate the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Committee. Section 3. Staff support for this Committee will be determined by the City Manager. 1 Section 4. The Advisory Cc~nittee will determine the most importmnt sign ordinance issues to be addressed and present its recom- mendations on these to the City Council within six months (6 months) after the Mayor has designated the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Cc~mittee at which time the Advisory Committee will sunset. Section 5. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon passage. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of February, 1986.
