85-KKKKA RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA
SUPPORTING THE PROPOSAL BEFORE THE
PALM BEACH COUNT~ BOARD OF COUNTY
CO~vLISSIONERS TO PROHIBIT BILLBOARDS
WITHIN A 1,000 FOOT ZONE AROUND THE
PERIMETER OF A MUNICIPALITY WHICH
PROHIBITS BILLBOARDS; AND PROVIDING
AN EFFECPIVE DATE.
WHEREAS the Codes of the City of Boynton Beach prohibit
billboards within the City Limits of Boynton Beach; and
WHEREAS there is a proposal before the Palm Beach County Board
of County Commissioners to prohibit billboards within a 1000 foot zone
around the perimeter of any municipality which prohibits billboards.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the proposal to ban billboards within
1,000 feet of municipalities that prohibit billboards is fully supported
by the City Council of the City of Boynton Beach since it would be
one more cooperative step on the part of the Palm Beach County Board
of County Ccmxmissioners to relate county development standards to
those of the urban municipalities and thus support already
established municipal standards.
Section 2. The Mayor and City Council of the City of Boynton
Beach urge the Palm Beach Board of County Conxnissioners to also con-
sider the .possibility of eliminating existing billboards in a 1,000
foot zone through a reasonable amortization program.
Section 3. This Resolution becomes effective immediately
upon its passage.
