3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON
4 BEACH, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO APPLY FOR THE
5 DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FY24 SAFE STREETS AND ROADS
6 FOR ALL GRANT PROGRAM; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, IF
7 AWARDED, TO ACCEPT THE GRANT AND EXECUTE THE RELATED
8 GRANT DOCUMENTS AND AMENDMENTS PROVIDED THAT THEY DO
9 NOT INCREASE THE FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS OF THE CITY; PROVIDING
10 AN EFFECTIVE DATE;AND FOR ALL OTHER PURPOSES.

12 WHEREAS, the Department of Transportation issued a Notice of Funding Opportunity
13 for Fiscal Year 2024 Safe Streets and Roads for All Grant Program, with a focus on improving
14 roadway safety by significantly reducing or eliminating roadway fatalities and serious injuries
15 through safety action plan development, and refinement and implementation focused on all
16 users, including pedestrians, bicyclists, public transportation users, motorists, personal
17 conveyance and micromobility users, and commercial vehicle operators.
18 WHEREAS, the City's Public Works department is applying for the Fiscal Year 2024
19 Safe Streets and Roads for All Grant Program for a grant of $216,000 with a City match not to
20 exceed $54,000; and
21 WHEREAS, the City intends to use the funds for the development of an Action Plan;
22 and
23 WHEREAS, upon recommendation of staff, the City Commission finds it in the best
24 interest of the citizens and residents of the City of Boynton Beach to approve the grant
25 application to Fiscal Year 2024 Safe Streets and Roads for All Grant Program with a 20% City
26 match requirement not to exceed $54,000; authorize the City Manager to execute the
27 application, and if awarded, the Grant Agreement, subject to review for legal sufficiency by
28 the office of the City Attorney; authorize the City Manager to take all administrative and
29 budgetary actions necessary to implement the grant; and authorize the City Manager to
30 execute any amendments to the Grant Agreement that do not increase the City's financial
31 obligations, subject to review by the office of the City Attorney for legal sufficiency.

34 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
35 BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
36 SECTION 1. The foregoing "Whereas" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as
37 being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution upon adoption
38 hereof.
39 SECTION 2. The City Commission approves the grant application to Fiscal Year 2024
40 Safe Streets and Roads for All Grant Program with a 20%City match requirement not to exceed
41 $54,000; authorizes the City Manager to execute the application, and if awarded, the Grant
42 Agreement, subject to review for legal sufficiency by the office of the City Attorney; authorizes
43 the City Manager to take all administrative and budgetary actions necessary to implement the
44 grant; and authorizes the City Manager to execute any amendments to the Grant Agreement
45 that do not increase the City's financial obligations, subject to review by the office of the City
46 Attorney for legal sufficiency.
47 SECTION 3. This Resolution shall become effective as provided by law.
