A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA ADOPTING THE JOB DESCRIPTION
FOR THE pOsITION OF OCCUPATIONAL LICENSE CLEP~K/FI~ID
INSPECTOR A~ND MAKING IT A PART OF THE CITY'S PAY PLAN.
AN~NDI%~G THE BUDGET OF THE BUILDING D~ARTMENT TO REFLECT
THE INCLUSION OF THIS POSITION A/~D THAT OF ADDITIONAL
CLERK II POSITION.
BE IT RESOLVED BY TBE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. The duties and responsibilities of the position
of Occupational License Clerk/Field Inspector is hereby adopted and
shall be in accordance with the job description attached hereto and
made a part hereof.
Section 2. That the position of Occupational License Clerk/
Field Inspector shall be pay grade 22 and shall be a part of the
City's pay plan.
Section 3. That the budget of the Building Department be
amended to include the above position and that of an additional
Clerk II position.

OCCUPATIONAL LICENSE CLERK/FT~I.D INSPECTOR
Under the general direction of the building official or his designee, employee
supervises occupational records and licenses, checks reported municipal license
violations and surveys City for unreported license violations. Employees in this
position must perform, general office and clerical work requiring specialized
knowledge of departmental policies, procedures and equipment. Work requires
considerable understanding and tact in explaining and enforcing ~unicipal regulations.
Work is performed semi-independently.
~.T.USTRATIVE TASKS
(NOTE:) These are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work
performed in this classification. The omission of specific statements of duties
does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical
assignment for this position.
Supervises all aspects of occupational licenses including all records and issuance
of licenses.
Maintains continuous check of all business activities in the City with regard to
proper occupational licensing; using as a basis, current license book furnished and
periodically updated by the Building Official.
Patrols the City in search of possible license violations and makes appropriate
reports.
Advises contractors, workers and the general public of municipal regulations
covering occupational licensing.
Prepares and submits activity reports as requested.
Handles complaints received by Building DepazhYent concerning license ordinances.
Maintains specialized depazh~ental files, records and accounts.
Performs a wide range of clerical tasks such as preparing and typing departmental
reports, preparing balance sheets, accounts, logs, employee schedules.
Assist others in carrying out Building Depaz~ent work requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKIT,T,S
Knowledge of municipal regulations pertaining to occupational licensing; parking
of trailers, junk cars, zoning regulations, animals and fowl and other such
violations with purview of Building and Zoning Departn~nt.
Ability to handle cor~ptaints in courteous and efficient manner.
Ability to explain and enforce municipal regulations with firmness and tact.
Knowledge of City streets and local area.
Ability to work indpendently; to make sound decisions based on well established
procedure and municipal regulations.
Ability to establish and maintain activity file; to prepare reports as requested.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationship with other
employees and the general public.
Knowlege of modern office practices and procedures.
Ability to maintain complex records; files and prepares reports.
Minimum typing speed 35 wpm .

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
High school diploma, _~D, or Other certificateof competency supplemented
by two years ofpractical work experienceinvolving tactful public contact
or an equivalent combination of training and experience,
Must have a valid Florida driver's license.
