A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, SUPpORTiNG THE
REENACTMENT OF FEDERAL GENERAL REVENUE SHARING.
WHEREAS, the General Revenue Sharing Program has 'been
in effect since 1972; and
WHEREAS, the General Revenue Sharing Program has
to be an efficient and effective mechanism for returning federal
revenue to cities and counties on a formula basis; and
WHEREAS, procedures for the acceptance and appropria-
tion of Revenue Sharing Funds at the local level assure citizen
input in the decision process for the use of these funds; and
WHEREAS, cities and counties directly or indirectly
use these funds to assist in responding to and complying with the
variety of federally mandated programs o~ ~federal policies.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE AND IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYNTO~N BEACH, FLORIDA:
Section 1. That the City Council urges the United
~ Congress and the President of the United States to continue
to support and approve the Federal General Revenue Sharing Program,
smnce it is a vital part of an equitable distribution of federal
revenue to county and local government as these governments carry
out their responsibilities as a part of the interrelated govern-
mental structure throughout the Country.
Section 2. Further be it resolved that a copy of this
Resolution 'be forwarded to the White House, to the United States
Senators from Florida and to Congressman Daniel Mica.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 18th day of January, 1983.
