A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, CREATING THE
POSITION OF MANAGEMENT INTERN AND PROVIDING
THE DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, DESCRIPTION
AND SALARY OF SAID POSITION.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON
BEACH, FLORIDA:
That the position of Management Intern as a classified
position be hereby created. The duties and responsibilities of
said office shall be in accordance with the job description
attached hereto and made a part hereof. This position will be
at pay grade 20.

Definition:
MANAGEMENT INTERN
Varied responsible technical work at the direction of the City
Manager. Work in this class includes a wide variety of projects and
assignments to be performed as assigned by. the City Manager. Public
contact and departmental liaison is required which demands the use of
tact, discretion and some latitude for the use of independent judgement
in the selection of work methods and procedures.
Examples of Work Performed (Illustrative only)
Performs a wide variety of responsible technical or administrative
duties relating to assignments received from the City Manager.
Disseminates information regarding departmental activities and
compliance with city policies and procedures.
May resolve and adjust complaints and problems within the scope of
assigned projects.
May review complaints directed to City Manager's office, investigate
and refer to proper operating division.
Assists department heads and administrative staff in effecting surveys,
various studies and duties relative to municipal functions.
Performs related work as required.
Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the principles of public administration with particular
reference to municipal administration.
Some knowledge of community dynamics including intergovernmental
relations, civic organizations and special interest groups.
Ability to express self clearly and concisely, orally and in writing.
Ability to operate standard office machines.
Ability to establish and maintain effective communications and
public relations with members of the public and other employees.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's
Degree in Public or Business Administration or a Bachelor's Degree with
major course work in Public or Business Administration or related fields
preferably supplemented with additional course work in these areas; or
an equivalent combination of training and experience.
