3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON
4 BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR, OR
5 DESIGNEE, TO APPLY FOR THE STATE PERMIT NECESSARY TO
6 TEMPORARILY CLOSE FEDERAL HIGHWAY ON SATURDAY, DECEMBER
7 7, 2024, FOR THE 53RD ANNUAL HOLIDAY PARADE; AND FOR ALL
8 OTHER PURPOSES.

10 WHEREAS, Federal Highway, between Woolbright Road and N.E. 1st Avenue, serves as the
11 staging and parade route for the Annual Holiday Parade.The closing of this road requires a permit
12 from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and pursuant to Chapter 14-65 of the
13 Florida Administrative Code, FDOT requires local governments to submit a Request for Temporary
14 Closing/Special Use of State Road along with a resolution authorizing the event; and
15 WHEREAS, the City Commission, upon the recommendation of staff, has deemed it in the
16 best interests of the city's citizens and residents to approve and authorize the Mayor, or designee,
17 to apply for the State permit necessary to temporarily close Federal Highway on Saturday,
18 December 7, 2024, for the 53rd Annual Holiday Parade.

20 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON
21 BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
22 SECTION 1. The foregoing "Whereas" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as
23 being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution upon adoption.
24 SECTION 2. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, does hereby
25 approve and authorize the Mayor, or designee, to apply for the State permit necessary to
26 temporarily close Federal Highway on Saturday, December 7, 2024, for the 53rd Annual Holiday
27 Parade. The Mayor or designee is further authorized to execute any ancillary documents as may
28 be necessary to accomplish the purpose of this Resolution.
29 SECTION 3. This Resolution shall take effect in accordance with law.
