3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON
4 BEACH, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING A U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE 2024
5 EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT IN THE
6 AMOUNT OF$42,408 TO FUND THE BOYNTON BEACH POLICE MOBILE
7 SECURITY CAMERA & EQUIPMENT PROJECT TO SUPPORT THE REAL
8 TIME CRIME CENTER; AND FOR ALL OTHER PURPOSES.

10 WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs (OJP), and Bureau
11 of Justice Assistance(BJA)offer grant funding under the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance
12 Grant Program (JAG); and
13 WHEREAS,the Boynton Beach Police Department aims to enhance public safety and crime
14 prevention by deploying advanced mobile security cameras and related equipment linked to the
15 Real Time Crime Center (RTCC). This initiative addresses our community's increasing demand for
16 responsive and effective law enforcement solutions. The cameras will allow officers to respond to
17 crime events more efficiently and deliberately, with improved operational intelligence and a
18 proactive emphasis on officer, citizen, and community safety; and
19 WHEREAS,the U.S. Department of Justice Programs(OJP)and Bureau of Justice Assistance
20 (BJA) awarded the grant funding to the City; and
21 WHEREAS, the City Commission, upon the recommendation of staff, has deemed it in the
22 best interests of the city's citizens and residents to accept the 2024 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice
23 Assistance Grant(JAG) for $42,408 from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs
24 (OJP), and Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) to fund the Boynton Beach Police Mobile Security
25 Camera & Equipment Project to support the Real Time Crime Center.

27 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON
28 BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
29 SECTION 1. The foregoing "Whereas" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as
30 being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution upon adoption.
31 SECTION 2. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, does hereby
32 accept the 2024 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) for $42,408 from the U.S.
33 Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) to fund
34 the Boynton Beach Police Mobile Security Camera & Equipment Project to support the Real Time
35 Crime Center.
36 SECTION 3. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, hereby
37 authorizes the Mayor to execute the grant agreement and any ancillary documents as may be
38 necessary to accomplish the purpose of this Resolution, subject to the review and approval of the
39 City Attorney's Office.
40 SECTION 4. This Resolution shall take effect in accordance with law.
