3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON
4 BEACH, FLORIDA, CALLING FOR A GENERAL CITY ELECTION TO BE
5 HELD ON TUESDAY, MARCH 11, 2025, FOR THE PURPOSE OF
6 ELECTING ONE (1) CITY COMMISSIONER FOR DISTRICT I, ONE (1) CITY
7 COMMISSIONER FOR DISTRICT III, AND ONE (1) MAYOR; CALLING
8 FOR A GENERAL CITY RUN-OFF ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY,
9 MARCH 25, 2025, IF NECESSARY; AND FOR ALL OTHER PURPOSES.

11 WHEREAS, the City Charter of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, Article III, Section 40,
12 and other applicable laws, provide that all general and special elections be called by resolution
13 adopted by the City Commission for the March 11, 2025, General City Election for the purpose of
14 electing one (1) City Commissioner for District I, one (1) City Commissioner for District III, and one
15 (1) Mayor; and
16 WHEREAS, the City Charter of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, Article III, Section 41 and
17 other applicable laws, provides that a General City Run-off Election be called by the City
18 Commission for March 25, 2025, and held on such date in the event of necessity thereof as to any
19 of the aforesaid offices; and
20 WHEREAS, the City Commission, upon the recommendation of staff, has deemed it in the
21 best interests of the city's citizens and residents to call for a General City Election to be held on
22 Tuesday, March 11, 2025,for the purpose of electing one City Commissioner for District I, one City
23 Commissioner for District III, and one Mayor, and call for a General City Run-Off Election to be
24 held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, if necessary.

26 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON
27 BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
28 SECTION 1. The foregoing "Whereas" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as
29 being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution upon adoption.
30 SECTION 2. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, does hereby call
31 for a General City Election to be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, for the purpose of electing one
32 City Commissioner for District I, one City Commissioner for District III, and one Mayor.
33 SECTION 3. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, does hereby call
34 for a General City Run-Off Election to be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, to be held on such
35 date in accordance with the aforementioned laws and ordinances in the event of a necessity
36 thereof as to the aforesaid offices in Districts I, Districts III, and Mayor.
37 SECTION 4. Persons desiring to qualify with the City Clerk as candidates for the office
38 of Districts I, Districts III, and Mayor may do so in the manner provided by law between the dates
39 of Tuesday, November 12, 2024, beginning at 12:00 noon and Tuesday, November 26, 2024,
40 ending at 12:00 noon.
41 SECTION 5. The Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections, acting on behalf of the City
42 Clerk, is hereby authorized and directed to close the registration books prior to said General
43 Election and to keep the said books closed for the required period in accordance with the
44 registration law.
45 SECTION 6. The Supervisor of Elections is authorized and directed to deliver the
46 appropriate registration books to the proper City precinct boards on or before the day and hour
47 set for the opening of the polls for the aforementioned General City Election and General City
48 Run-off Election, as the case may be. The Clerk of each election precinct board is authorized and
49 directed to forthwith return, or cause to be returned by an authorized person or persons of said
50 board, the said registration books to the Supervisor of Elections immediately following each such
51 election.
52 SECTION 7. The polling places designated and fixed by the Board of County
53 Commissioners of Palm Beach County, Florida, are adopted pursuant to law as the polling places
54 for said General City Election and said General City Run-off Election if required.
55 SECTION 8. The City Clerk is authorized and directed under the applicable laws and
56 code provisions to perform such ministerial duties as are necessary and proper to provide for the
57 holding and conducting of said elections.
58 SECTION 9. The City Clerk is authorized to expend such sums of money as may be
59 necessary and proper in connection with the preparation for and holding of said elections,
60 including the authorized compensation to be paid to the election inspectors and clerks, as
61 outlined in the Agreement with the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections.
62 SECTION 10. The City Clerk is directed to furnish a certified copy of this Resolution to the
63 Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections.
64 SECTION 11. This Resolution shall take effect in accordance with law.
