NATURE OF WORK
This is responsible professional level work in the Planning Depart-

Planner and is reviewed by reports submitted and by observation of results
achieved. The employee in this class is also responsible for supervising
the drafting and graphics personnel in the Planning Department.

This is responsible, difficult and varied clerical work requiring thorough
knowledge of procedures in the Utilities Division of the Finance Department.
Work requires the use of judgment gained through experience, such judgment and/or

policies. Work involves considerable public contact during which minor adminis-
trative decisions are made, regulations explained, or technical information
obtained or given. The variety and difficulty of work varies. Unusually difficult
or very important work maybe performed under the supervision of the depar%ment
head who also offers assistance in such cases. Supervision may be exercised by
employee over employees assisting with routine details or divisiouwOrk. The work

NATURE OF WORK
This is responsible, teehnical and manual work dealing with civil engineerLug
inspection work, municipal water and sewer systems and the operatic¢~ and service
of water meter, sewage lines, water lines, wells, and pumping stations. An emt~loyee
in this classification works directly for the Utility System Supervisor. The
employee must exercise considerable independent judgment and tecbnicaI discreticm
in the performance of work. Work is reviewed through discussion and review of
reports.

CHIEF INSPECTOR
This is a responsible technical, administrative, and supervisory position
directing the operation and activities of the Building Inspectors. Wor~k involves
day-to-day supervision of the routine activities of the plan'check area, permit
issuance, Co~munity Development, violations, complaints, land file and inspectors.'
In conjunction with these duties, the periodic review of new addendums and
..... revisions of model building co, es and others, and making of recommendations to
the Building Official for develol~ng adden~ams in the form of Ordinances for
local application.
Check on all emplOyees in the Build,nE Department, as to the acc~racy of the
job they are doing and submit a quarterly report to the Building Official.

REQUIREMENTS
Possess a current Florida Driver L]cense, or obtain one within thirty (30) days from
date of employment, end have a good driving record.
PLUMBING INSPECTOR
This is inspection over municipal plumbing installations and, in addition,
is skilled in securing co~p!iance with city ordinances and regulations gove/Tr-
lng the installation and operation of plumbing systems and equipment.
The inspector inspects a variety of plumbing installatioD~ to insure main-
tenance of standards governing quality of material, workn~nship and safety pre-
cautions as set forth in city and Standard Plumbinq Codes.
The employee normally works independently on field instoections, makir~ de-
cisions requiring the use of technical judgment and discretion.
Basic knowledge of ~echanical installations, zoning, licensing, and other
municipal ordinances assoicated with the Building Depsrtment activities is
essential.
Checks plans during plan review for compliance of plumbing code require-

Performs all mechanical inspections.
Prepares reports and maintains records of work performed.
The Senior Inspecbor will also perform the additional duties of

INSPECTOR
NATURE OF
This is supervisory work over municipal electrical installations and,
in addition, is skilled in securing compliance with city ordinances and
regulations governing the ir~tallation and operation of electrical systems
and equipment.
The inspectmr inspects a variety of electrica/ installations %0 in~re
maintenance of standards governing quality of material, workm~n~hi~
Safet~f precautions as set forth in city and National Electrical Cod~. ~e
employee noi~3~lly works.independently on field inspections, retaking d~is~ns
~qu~r~ng the Use of technical judgment and d/scretion.
Basic knowledge of zon/ng, l_i_'censing, and other municipal ordinances
associated with the Building Depar~L~t activities is essential.
Checks plans during plan review for compliance of electrica/ code re-
quirements and insures 'that work drone in the field complies with plans.
Work is performed under the general supervision of th~ Chief Inspector.
ILLUSTRATIVE TASKS
Inspects ell electrical ~rk done by city e~ployees.
Makes inspections of new and existing wiring and electrical i~stalla-
tions in residences, buildings, both public end private, for conformance
with safety standsrds, laws and ordinances.
Insures that the applicable permits have been secured by Contractor
prior to r~aking inspections.
Checks plans and workmanship to see that electrical work complies with
all ordinances and regulations and recomr~nds m~thods of COrrection.
Prepares reports and maintains records of work perfo/~Zedo
The Senior Inspector will also perform the additional duties of Cb/ef
Electrical Inspector and assist the Chief Inspector in Code interpretations
as required, and assigns the delegation of the days inspections to
other inspector (s).
Follows up on compla/nts, violations, and the/r satisfactory completion.

BUILDING INSPECTOR
This is inspection over municipal construction and, in addition~ is
skilled in securing coa~liance with city ordinances and regulations govern-
ing the building industry.
The inspecbor inspects a variety of types of construction to insure
~intenance of standards governing.quality of material, workmao~hip and
safety precautions as set forth in city ord/~ances and the Standard Build-
ing Code.
The employee normally works independently on field inspections, making
decisions re~iring the use of technical judgment and discretion.
