R25-182 1 RESOLUTION NO. R25-182 2 3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON 4 BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING A PURCHASE ORDER TO ZOLL 5 MEDICAL CORPORATION FOR THE PURCHASE OF PUBLIC SAFETY 6 MEDICAL SUPPLIES FOR 1 YEAR WITH AN ANNUAL EXPENDITURE OF 7 $90,000;AND FOR ALL OTHER PURPOSES. 8 9 WHEREAS, the City desires to purchase defib pads, electrodes, EKG paper, and other 10 related medical supplies for Fire Emergency Services; and 11 WHEREAS, the City desires to utilize the rates from Contract No. PS20200 between the 12 League of Oregon Cities and Zoll Medical Corporation; and 13 WHEREAS, this purchase would be procured under the Piggyback exemption of the 14 procurement code. Piggyback contracts significantly benefit the City of Boynton Beach by 15 providing a cost-effective and efficient way to procure goods and services. By leveraging 16 agreements already in place with other governmental entities, the City can avoid the time- 17 consuming and expensive process of issuing its own competitive bids. This allows quicker access 18 to needed resources while often securing more favorable pricing due to the economies of scale 19 achieved through larger contracts. Additionally, piggybacking ensures the City can tap into pre- 20 vetted vendors who have already been thoroughly evaluated, reducing administrative burdens 21 and risks associated with vendor selection. Ultimately, piggyback contracts streamline 22 procurement, save taxpayer money, and improve the efficiency of City operations; and 23 WHEREAS, the City Commission, upon the recommendation of staff, has deemed it in the 24 best interests of the City's citizens and residents to approve a Purchase Order to Zoll Medical 25 Corporation for the purchase of public safety medical supplies for 1 year with an annual 26 expenditure of $90,000. 27 28 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON 29 BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT: 30 SECTION 1.
