A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON
BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING A PURCHASE ORDER TO ZOLL
MEDICAL CORPORATION FOR THE PURCHASE OF PUBLIC SAFETY
MEDICAL SUPPLIES FOR 1 YEAR WITH AN ANNUAL EXPENDITURE OF
$90,000;AND FOR ALL OTHER PURPOSES.

WHEREAS, the City desires to purchase defib pads, electrodes, EKG paper, and other
related medical supplies for Fire Emergency Services; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to utilize the rates from Contract No. PS20200 between the
League of Oregon Cities and Zoll Medical Corporation; and
WHEREAS, this purchase would be procured under the Piggyback exemption of the
procurement code. Piggyback contracts significantly benefit the City of Boynton Beach by
providing a cost-effective and efficient way to procure goods and services. By leveraging
agreements already in place with other governmental entities, the City can avoid the time-
consuming and expensive process of issuing its own competitive bids. This allows quicker access
to needed resources while often securing more favorable pricing due to the economies of scale
achieved through larger contracts. Additionally, piggybacking ensures the City can tap into pre-
vetted vendors who have already been thoroughly evaluated, reducing administrative burdens
and risks associated with vendor selection. Ultimately, piggyback contracts streamline
procurement, save taxpayer money, and improve the efficiency of City operations; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission, upon the recommendation of staff, has deemed it in the
best interests of the City's citizens and residents to approve a Purchase Order to Zoll Medical
Corporation for the purchase of public safety medical supplies for 1 year with an annual
expenditure of $90,000.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON
BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
SECTION 1. The foregoing "Whereas" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as
being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution upon adoption.
