R25-225 RESOLUTION NO. R25-225 1 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON 2 BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING AN INCREASE IN THE ANNUAL 3 EXPENDITURE OF THE PURCHASE ORDER WITH AMAZON BUSINESS 4 FOR THE PURCHASE OF SUPPLIES ON AN AS-NEEDED BASIS FROM 5 $300,000 TO AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $450,000; AND FOR ALL 6 OTHER PURPOSES. 7 8 9 WHEREAS, on December 19, 2023, the City Commission approved the piggyback renewal 10 with Amazon Business to purchase supplies with an annual expenditure of $300,000; and l WHEREAS, the requested increase of $150,000 is necessary to support the continued 12 procurement of essential supplies for all City departments. These supplies include, but are not 13 limited to, IT hardware, office supplies, library program materials, police and fire equipment, utility 14 tools, and hard-to-source fleet parts; and 15 WHEREAS, this funding is critical to ensure that departments can maintain operations and 16 perform their core functions without disruption. The additional amount will allow the City to meet 17 ongoing demand and avoid delays in service delivery due to supply shortages; and 18 WHEREAS, this purchase agreement piggybacks the Omnia Partners Online Marketplace 19 Contract. Omnia Partners is a purchasing organization for state and local government, K-12 20 education, colleges, and universities. All contracts available have been competitively solicited and 21 publicly awarded by a government entity serving as the leading agency, utilizing industry best 22 practices and processes. Piggyback contracts significantly benefit the City of Boynton Beach by 23 providing a cost-effective and efficient way to procure goods and services. By leveraging 24 agreements already in place with other governmental entities, the City can avoid the time- 25 consuming and expensive process of issuing its own competitive bids. This allows quicker access 26 to needed resources while often securing more favorable pricing due to the economies of scale 27 achieved through larger contracts. Additionally, piggybacking ensures the City can tap into pre- 28 vetted vendors who have already been thoroughly evaluated, reducing administrative burdens 29 and risks associated with vendor selection. Ultimately, piggyback contracts streamline 30 procurement, save taxpayer money, and improve the efficiency of City operations; and 31 RESOLUTION NO. R25-225 32 WHEREAS, the City Commission, upon the recommendation of staff, has deemed it in the 33 best interests of the City's citizens and residents to approve an increase in the annual expenditure 34 of the Purchase Order with Amazon Business for the purchase of supplies on an as-needed basis 35 from $300,000 to an amount not to exceed $450,000. 36 37 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON 38 BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT: 39 SECTION 1.
