R25-284 RESOLUTION NO. R25-284 1 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON 2 BEACH, FLORIDA, RATIFYING THE CITY'S APPLICATION FOR THE 3 IMPAIRED DRIVING GRANT PROVIDED BY THE FLORIDA 4 DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR THE 2025-2026 FUNDING 5 CYCLE, AND AUTHORIZE THE MAYOR TO ACCEPT THE GRANT, IF 6 AWARDED, AND EXECUTE ALL FUTURE DOCUMENTS ASSOCIATED 7 WITH THE GRANT, SUBJECT TO APPROVAL BY THE CITY ATTORNEY; 8 AND FOR ALL OTHER PURPOSES. 9 10 WHEREAS, the Florida Department of Transportation ("FDOT") State Safety Office has 1 selected the Boynton Beach Police Department's concept paper for subgrant funding 12 consideration in the FY 2025-2026 funding cycle under the Impaired Driving priority area. The 13 anticipated funding, in the amount of$40,000, is allocated to support traffic enforcement overtime 14 focused on high-crash and high-risk areas within the city; and 15 WHEREAS, if formally awarded, this funding will enable the Police Department to conduct 16 enforcement operations aimed at reducing impaired driving, particularly in locations with a high 17 incidence of traffic fatalities and serious injuries; and 18 WHEREAS, the City Commission, upon the recommendation of staff, has deemed it in the 19 best interests of the City's citizens and residents to ratify the City's application for the Impaired 20 Driving Grant provided by FDOT for the 2025-2026 funding cycle, and authorize the Mayor to 21 accept the Grant, if awarded, and execute all future documents associated with the grant, subject 22 to approval by the City Attorney. 23 24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON 25 BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT: 26 SECTION 1. The foregoing "Whereas" clauses are hereby ratified and confirmed as 27 being true and correct and are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution upon adoption. 28 SECTION 2. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, does hereby 29 ratify the City's application for the Impaired Driving Grant provided by FDOT for the 2025-2026 30 funding cycle, and if formally awarded, authorizes the City to accept the Grant. 31 SECTION 3. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, does hereby 32 authorize the Mayor and the Chief of Police to execute the Grant Agreement and any other RESOLUTION NO. R25-284 33 documents associated with applying for and accepting the Grant that do not otherwise increase 34 the financial obligations of the City, subject to the approval of the City Attorney's Office. 35 SECTION 4.
