He said that the City told him he has too many pavers and that some of them have to be removed. He stated that he did remove some of the pavers but that when he went back to apply for the permit, other issues were brought up. Mr. Chevalier-Bien Aime stated that the permit application is currently in disapproved status and that when he submits his application it must abide by the parameters of the Building Department. He advised Mr. Alcinor to contact a licensed professional who may be able to assist him. Magistrate Zalman stated that she would like to give the respondent additional time and questioned if the City had an objection. Mr. Chevalier-Bien Aime said that there was no objection. Ms. Williams said that they wanted to check if they could install a mailbox next to the wall. She commented that the property is vacant and that the neighbor uses the driveway to park their car. She explained the shutters were placed because of a squatter issue they've had in the past. Candice Stone, Code Enforcement Director, stated that the shutters could be used as a security measure to deter squatters, but it has to be proven that the property is vacant. 8 Officer Chevalier-Bien Aime stated that he was not aware that the property was vacant. He said that he knocked on the door a few times and has saw people walking around in the back of the property. He said that he assumed they just did not want to speak with him. He commented that when he sent the letters out, no one tried to contact him and let him know that the property was vacant. Ms. Williams stated that the property has been vacant since 2022 and that the guy who Mr. Chevalier-Bien Aime saw was probably the maintenance man. Ms. Stone suggested that the case is tabled to verify if the property is vacant. Decision Magistrate Zalman ordered to table this case for 60 days. Mr. Chevalier-Bien Aime stated that Mr. Seide had shown him a video prior to the hearing the driveway, the grass and the storage removal. He commented that he still needs to go out and verify.
