76-DRESOLUTION NO. 76-D
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, PALM BEACH
COUNTY, TO BE PRESENTED TO APPROPRIATE GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES
WITHIN THE STATE REQUESTING SUCH AGENCIES TO SUPPORT AND
ESTABLISH EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN I AND II PROGRAMS UNDER
THE AUSPICES OF PALM BEACH JUNIOR COLLEGE.
WHEREAS, it is deemed in the best interest of those
public safety agencies responsible for providing Emergency
Medical Service within the County of Palm Beach to establish
and maintain an ~4ERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN I and EMERGENCY
MEDICAL TECHNICIAN II Training Program under the auspices of
Palm Beach Junior College, in a man.ner compatible with other
Emergency Medical Technician programs in other junior and
community colleges throughout the State of Florida. The terms
EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN I and II are defined in a manner
which is generally understood throughout the State of Florida.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE AND IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA:
TO PRESENT TO THE APPROPRIATE GOVERNMENTAL
AGENCIES WITHIN THE STATE REQUESTING SUCH
AGENCIES TO SUPPORT AND ESTABLISH AN EMERGENCY
MEDICAL TECHNICIAN TRAINING PROGRAM UNDER THE
AUSPICES OF PALM BEACH JUNIOR COLLEGE.
Further, that the Emergency Medical Technician program
become an integral part of the Fire Science curricula, providing,
however, that certain non-fire students who are otherwise
qualified be admitted to the program.
Further, that college credit hours be awarded students
who satisfactorily complete Emergency Medical Technician courses
by Palm Beach Junior College in a manner consistent with the
policies and standards of Palm Beach Junior College.
Further, that a member of the faculty of Palm Beach
Junior College serve as the coordinator of the Emergency Medical
Technician program.
Further, that the Emergency Medical Service Council
of the County of Palm Beach serve as an advisory body to Palm
Beach Junior College in the administration of the Emergency
Medical Technician training program.
