Mr. DeCarlo distributed the schedule and the list of participants for Youth in
Government Day. Lunch will be served at the Madsen Center from 12 noon to
1:00 p.m. and all members are invited. If you plan to attend, please let Mr.
DeCarlo know.
Chairman Washam announced that this is the 30th year that Youth in
Government Day has taken place. He noted that this year there is a very good
representation from various schools throughout the area. Members were
requested to try to attend the morning and evening events, as well as the
luncheon. Chairman Washam thanked the Advisory Board on Children and
Youth and the Education Advisory Board for their participation.
Ms. Noe thought that the Youth in Government Day would be a good opportunity
to honor the young artist who wanted to donate a sculpture to the City that was
displayed at the last Board meeting. Mr. DeCarlo suggested that this could take
place prior to the mock Commission Meeting. Mr. DeCado will coordinate this
with Ms. Costantino. Chairman Washam requested that Mr. DeCarlo keep him
updated on the arrangements.

Special PBC Health Care District Meeting - April 24th at 2:00 p.m.
Executive Committee will make a formal presentation
Mr. DeCado reported that a meeting took place yesterday that was attended by
members of the County's PATCH Program and two members of the County's
Health Care District. At that meeting the status of the PATCH organization was
discussed. The Health Care District would like the 501.3.C corporation that has
been organized to flourish and they stated that if the PATCH organization wished

to apply to the Health Care District for a grant, they would be pleased to receive
it. However, there are many things that need to be done before PATCH could
apply for a grant. When PATCH asked them for an extension, they were not very
receptive. Mr. DeCarlo said that to be considered for a grant, it would be
necessary to put a grant request together by late June. However, in order to be
considered for the October budget, the grant application must be received by
July 1st. The Apdl 24th meeting is.a public hearing and anyone can attend. From
a funding standpoint, Mr. DeCarlo did not think that the Health Care District
would be including a line item in their budget for the PATCH Program.
Mr. DeCarlo suggested that the Boynton PATCH could align itself with the
Central Patch for assistance with the grant. Ms. Noe inquired how much money
the PATCH Program would be eligible for and Mr. DeCarlo thought that there
was approximately $200,000 that would be shared by all the PATCH
organizations. Vice Chair Miller did not think this would leave much money for
the Boynton PATCH. Chairman Washam thanked the Board members for their
hard work and dedication on behalf of the PATCH Program and would like to see
the Program continued.
Mr. DeCarlo announced that the Great American Clean-up is scheduled for
Saturday, April 27th. To receive a tee shirt and trash bags, a sign up table will be
placed at the Library. Some neighborhoods have expressed a desire to
participate and everyone is encouraged to take part.
Chairman Washam thanked Virginia Farace, the Library Director, for promoting
and encouraging the City's involvement in the community reading program.
Chairman Washam announced that Vice Chair Beth Miller has tendered her
resignation effective May 1st and will be deeply missed. Vice Chair Miller said it
has been an honor to serve on the Board and that her experience on the Board
has been both enjoyable and rewarding. Chairman Washam and all the
members thanked Vice Chair Miller for her dedication and noted that she will be
missed.
