Marshal.
Sec. 1. The ~{arshal, before entering upon the duties
of his office, shall give bond, with two or more sufficient
sureties, in the penal sum of Two Hundred (~200.00) dollars,
conditioned upon his faithfully performing the duties of his
office, which bond shall be approved by the Town Commission.
Sec. 2. The Marshal shall always be on duty to pre-
serve peace and maintain order, and he shall be subject to
a fine not to exceed Twenty-five ($25.00) dollars for any
neglect of duty. For any alleged neglect of duty, he shall
be trie~ by the Town Commission and if found guilty, he
shall be fined by the Commission in a sum not to exceed
Twenty-five ($25.00) dollars, or suspended for a definite
period or removed from office, or both fined and suspended
or removed.
Sec. 3. The ~'iarshal shall not leave the Town limits
unless a Deputy Marshal or a policeman shall have been
appointed by the Town Commission, and such Deputy Marshal
Dr policeman shall be left on duty to act during the ab-
sence of the Marshal.
Sec. 4. The Marshal shall arrest instanter and safely
keep by confining in the Town jail any person who shall be
guilty of disturbing the peace, good order or dignity of
the To~vn of Boynton, or who shall violate any Ordinance
of the Town.
Sec. 5. The Marshal shall confine all persons arrested
by him in the Town Jail, provided that he may accept a bond
conditioned upon the appearance of the accused, at the next
session of the Nayor's court, to be approved by him.
Sec. 8. It shall be the duty of the Nayor, when issuing
any warrant, to fix the amount of bond which the Marshal
shall be authorized to accept in that case.
Sec. 7. The Marshal may also accept cash in the amount
specified for that case, in lieu of a bond, and if the
accused shall not appear at the next session of the Mayor's
Court, the cash so deposited shall be forfeited to the Town
in default of such appearance.
Sec. 8. The Marshal shall keep safely all persons under
arrest and sentence, and shall be allowed One Dollar ($1.00)
Dollar per day for the deeding and custody of the same, or
One ($1.00) dollar a day while a prisoner is serving out a
sentence at hard labor.
Sec. 9. It shall be the duty of the I'~arshal to see
that all 0rdinauces concerning the cleanliness, health and
sanitary conditions of the To~n are strictly complied with
and to report to the Mayor at once any violation of any of
said Ordinances.
Sec. 10. The ~arshal shall receive for his eervices as
~a~shal, the monthly salary of Ten ($10.00) dollars and he
shall be allowed to retain all fees earned by him in the
criminal prosecutions.
Sec. ll. ~Vhoever shall knowingly or wilfully obstruct
or oppose ~he Narshal or Deputy ~arshal o~ a policeman of
this Town in the discharge of his duty in serving process

or making any arrest~ ~hall be fined not less than Fifty
($50.00) dollars nor more than Five Hundred ($500.00) dollars,
or imprisonment not more than sixty days at hard labor, or
shall be both fined and imprisoned.
Sec. 12. ~-Fnenever any Marshal, Deputy Marshal or police-
man shall be resisted in the discharge of his duty, with force,
by any p~rson, or such officel~ has reason to believe he will
be so resisted, he shall have authority to command any male
bystander, over the age of eighteen years, to assist him
in overcoming such force; and if any such bystander when so
commanded by such offi~er, shall neglect or refuse to render
such assistance to the best of his ability, he shall be fined
or imprisoned as prescribed in the preceding section or shall
be both fined and imprisoned.
Sec. 13. The Marshal shall cause all disorderly assem-
blages to disperse, and upon the refusal of any participant,
or person present at any disorderly assemblage, to leave such
assemblage at once upon the command of the Marshal, he shall
forthwith be arrested, and on conviction shall be fined not
exceeding Twenty Five (~5.00) dollars, or imprisoned not
exceeding Thirty (30) days, or shall be both fined and im-
pti s oned.
The above Ordinance No. V, having been read in ff~ll
at a ~[eeting of the To~m Oommission of the Town of Boynton,
Florida, held on the 26th day of A~gust A. D. 1921, was
adopted and approved at a Regular ~leeting of said Commission
held on the 6th day of September A. D. 1921, and a copy
thereof posted at the front door of the To~n Ha ll at Boynton,
Florida, on the 7th day of September ~.~. D. 19~l.
