69-FFRESOLUTION NO. 69
WHEREAS, pursuant to the charter of the CITY OF BOYNTON BEA(
FLORIDA, the City Council of said municipality has heretofore, by Resolution,
adopted certain Civil Service Rules and Regulations governing the merit
system of said municipality, effective July 16, 1962, as heretofore amended,
and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the procedure set forth in said charier, the
Personnel Officer of said City has heretofore prepared a certain proposed
amendment to said Rules and Regulations pertaining to selection and promotion
of employees~ filling vacancies, which proposed amendment has been approved
by the City Manager and submitted to the City Council for their consideration~
and
WHEREAS, the City Council has examined said proposed amendment,
and after due consideration deems the enactment of said amendment to the best
interest of the City and essential for the effective operation of the municipal
merit system~
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA:
1. That the amendment to the existing City of Boynton Beach Civil
Rules and Regulations, adopted July 16, 1962, as amended, heretofore
and submitted by the Personnel Officer and approved by the City
and more particularly set forth hereinafter is hereby adopted,
and approved, subject amendment being as follows:
Thai paragraph 1, Section 6, Article IV of the Civil Service Rules and
of the CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, as amended, pertaining to
selection of applicants for employment in the Municipal Fire Department be,
the same is, hereby amended to read:
'Ti. Candidates with no fire experience must be not less than twenty-
one (21) years nor more than thirty-six (36) years and one month of age at the
date of their examination. Maximum age restrictions for candidates who have
five (5) years proven record of satisfactory service with an accredited Fire
Department in another community or in another state, or who served five (5)
years in fire service in any branch of the military service may be extended to
age forty (40) and one month. Such restrictions shall not apply to candidates
from volunteer Fire Department."
2. In all other respects subject Rules and Regulations, as amended,
are hereby ralified and confirmed.
3. This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon passage.
