at the Glendale Federal Bank property located on the southwest corner of
Congress Avenue and Woolbright Road from March 30, 1994 through April 3, 1994.

Motion
Commissioner Katz moved to grant the request submitted by Spanish River High
School DECA Chapter and to hold a carnival at the Glendale Federal Bank property
from March 30, 1994 through April 3, 1994. Mayor Pro Tem Bradley seconded the
motion.
City Manager Miller requested that the motion include that approval is subject
to all staff comments. Commissioner Katz agreed to include this in the motion.
Mayor Harmening appreciated what they are doing for children; however, he felt a
site in Boca Raton would be more appropriate. He pointed out that another car-
nival is being held during the same period of time, which the Spanish River High
School DECA Chapter carnival may impact slightly. He hated to see them take
money out of Boynton Beach.
Robert Goldmacher, Branch Manager of Glendale Federal Bank, advised that DECA
represents all schools in South Palm Beach County and that for the past six
years has worked with the migrant farm workers of West Boynton Beach and has
sponsored and funded a Christmas party for the needy families of Boynton Beach.
Dennis Sweetapple, Advisor for the Spanish River High School, thanked the
Commission for reconsidering this request. He stated that the purpose of this
carnival is to raise money to send twelve students to Detroit to compete
nationally. The students have worked alt year long to reach this goal. The
School Board has withdrawn all financial support and the students have held car
washes, bake sales, candy sales, and sold TV-12 coupon books to earn the money
on their own. They will be representing Palm Beach County and the State of

again stated that the Commission's reconsideration is very graciously apprecia-
ted. He also stated that the students apologize for not being able to attend
this meeting. Mayor Harmening accepted the apology.
The motion carried 2-1. Mayor Harmening cast the dissenting vote.
