SPECIAL CITY COMMISSION
BOYNTON BEACH, FLORZDA
MARCH 25, 1999
Remarks by Mayor Gerald Broening
Mayor Broening thanked Ron Washam for the same reasons mentioned by Mayor Taylor. He felt the
campaign was a decent, respectful and affirmative race. He also thanked Bruce Black and the other
candidates. He felt it was the first time since he has been in Boynton Beach that such a respectful,
positive, civil campaign was held. This points out and underlines that the City is changing fundamentally
with respect to how it views itself and how others view us. Mayor Broening explained that there is room
for improvement in Boynton Beach and the Commissioners will work to achieve those improvements
using a guideline and standards that were supported by Mayor Taylor, Vice Mayor 3askiewicz and
Commissioner Titcomb. He believes it will be a tough job to follow the precedents of professionalism and
performance that were set by the former Commissioners. However, he believes this new Commission has
what it takes to do a good job for the City. Mayor Broening is proud to be able to serve and looks
forward to the next two years with great anticipation.
