Unfinished business: Virginia handed out the new schedule of borrowing policies and fines. There
are posters in several places in the library, as well as notices in the recent bulletin. Stickers are now
being applied to all audio-visual items.
The library's web site is available for interlibrary loans and "holds" but not many people have used
it at this point.
New Business: New software in the computer's reserve system blocks people from using the
computer if they owe $7.50 or more in fines. Library staff members requested that the amount be
lowered to $5.00. After a discussion, the Board agreed that was a reasonable amount.
Dan asked where cuts were made in order to maintain the $130,000 book budget. Virginia
explained that the conversion of database records had to be scaled back and postponed.
Virginia attended the State Library Conference in Tallahassee. She reported on some of the
changes that may be made after the election. She said that future years could bring additional
problems in funding and a shortage of qualified librarians. She also said that the Schoolhouse
Museum might be eligible for grant money within a few years.
