She suggested that the Board stage a project quarterly and asked members to come up with some ideas, such as a beach clean-up, visiting nursing homes, etc. Ms. Claude thought that this would make it more of a program, rather than having just one project a year. Chairman Waldman suggested that this be discussed further at the next meeting so that information could be disseminated to the schools when they open in August. Ms. Wilkinson suggested "adopting a road," which had to be cleaned Meeting Minutes Advisory Board on Children & Youth Boynton Beach, FL June 26, 2003 quarterly. Chairman Waldman inquired how this could be accomplished, and Ms. Wilkinson thought it would have to go through the DOT or the agency that is in charge of the road selected, such as the State, County or Municipality. Ms. Wilkinson will follow through on this, and Ms. Claude will check with the City. Members were asked to bring ideas to the next meeting. E. Bob Borovy Award Chairman Waldman thought that the evening was a success, and the recipients of the awards were deserving young people. Ms. Claude noted that there had been discussion about doing away with three winners and just having a first place winner and a runner up, since there were not enough candidates. Ms. Claude noted that there were only five applicants for the award, which members felt was unusual. Ms. Claude pointed out that there were more applicants, but they did not live within the City limits. Ms. Wilkinson suggested offering the award in February; however, this would not coincide with the Youth Banquet. Chairman Waldman noted that it has always been traditional to give the awards out at the end of the school year. Ms. Claude said that the deadline could be changed, but the award could still be given out at the Youth Banquet. Ms. Claude noted that the current deadline is April 1st.
