RE~S~ OF F.L.PURINTON TO ACCEPT OFFICE
AS ~AYOR- CO~MISSIONER PER ELECTION
OF 14th DAY OF ABRIL, A.D. 1947
WHEREAS, the term of Paul Mercer as Mayor-
Commissioner of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, has
expired; and
WHEREAS,F.L.Purlnton, the candidate elected
to fill the office of Mayor-Commissioner, at and election
held on the 14th day of April, A.D. 194V, has failed and
refused to qualify as such ~ayor-Commissioner; and
WHEREAS, by reason of the foregoin~ facts a
vacancy does exist in the office of Mayor-Commissioner
of the City of Boynton Beach, Nlortda;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City
Commission of Boynton Beach, Florida; that, by reason of
the expiration of the term of office of Paul Mercer as
Mayor-Commissioner of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida,
and the neglect and refusal of F.L.Purinton, the candidate
elected to hold such office, to qualify as Mayor-Commissioner
of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, there has been
created, and now exists, a vacanc~ in the off'ice of Mayor-
Commissioner in the C~ty of Boynton Beach, Florida; and
that waoancy is hereby de.lared to exist in the office of
Mayor-Commissioner of the City of BoyntOn Beach, Florida.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a special election
of the q~alified electors of the City of Boynton Beach be
held in the municipality of Boynton Beach, Florida, for the
purpose of electin~ a Mayor-Commissioner, on the 10th day
of June, A.D. 1947
BE IT FURTHER RE~0LVED:
(a) That such special elect~on be ne!d on Tuesday the 10th
day of June, 1947;
(b) That the pollin~ place be at the Pavilion located at the
Shuffleboard Court in the municioallty of Boynton Beach,
Florida;
(c) That the polls shall be open and such election conducted
between the hours of 8 o'clock A.M. and 6 o'clock P.M. on
the 10th day of June, 1947;
(d) That the officers and officials w~o shall con~et such
election shall be;

(e) That nominations of candidates for the office of Mayor-
Commissioner shall be in accord with the ordinances of the
City of Boynton Beach, and the laws of the State of ?lorida;
(f) That notice of such special election shall be si~ned by
the de facto Mayor, Paul Mercer, and countersigned by
Clarence Benson, as City Clerk, and a copy thereof posted
at the front door of the Town Hall in the City of Boynton
Beach, Florida, an~ ~at such notice be published in the
Boynton Beach News, in four issues thereof;
(g) That the registration books of such municipality shall
be open for registration pursuant to the ordinances of such
munic~.pality;
(h) Such election shall be conducted in accord with the
ordinances of the City of Bo~Tnton Beach, Florida, and the
laws of the State of Florida applicable thereto.
Commissioner Mercer seconded t,he motion for the
adoption of the foregoing Resolution, and upon a vote bein~
had thereon, the same was unanimoumly passed and adopted.
