A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, URGING PALM
BEACH COUNTY TO PROCEED WITH A MUNICIPAL
SERVICE TAXING UNITS (MSTU'S) STUDY,TO
DETERMINE - COSTS OF SERVICES FOR
UNINCORPORATED AREAS; THAT A TAX
EQUALIZATION STUDY GROUP BE JOINTLY
APPOINTED BY PALM BEACH COUNTY AND THE
MUNICIPAL LEAGUE FOR REFINEMENT OF THE
DATA; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, over the past fifteen years a considerable amount of growth has
been experienced in the unincorporated areas of Palm Beach County; and
WHEREAS, Palm Beach County has been forced to provide a level of service
that is comparable to that found within the municipalities of Palm Beach County; and
WHEREAS, it has been determined that in order for Palm Beach County to
provide this level of service to the unincorporated areas, residents within
municipalities are directly subsidizing the unincorporated areas;
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, has
determined that it would be in the best interest of the residents of the City of
Boynton Beach to urge Palm Beach County to proceed with a Municipal Service
Taxing Units (MSTU'S) Study, to determine costs of services for unincorporated
areas; that a Tax Equalization Study Group be jointly appointed by Palm Beach
County and The Municipal League for refinement of the data received.
NOW THEREFORE, BE I'T RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMI'SS~[ON OF
THE CI'TY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORI'DA:
Section 1. That the City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach hereby
to urges Palm Beach County to proceed with a Municipal Service Taxing Units
(MSTU'S) Study, to determine costs of services for unincorporated areas and that a
Tax Equalization Study Group be jointly appointed by Palm Beach County and The
Municipal League for refinement of the data received.
Section 2. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach hereby
directs the City Clerk to distribute copies of this Resolution to each member of the
Palm Beach County Board of Commissioners, Florida League of Cities, and each
municipality in Palm Beach County.
