Diversity is the key to a successful group in the future. There was discussion regarding whether it was more prudent to find a building for a teen center/youth council first or begin the youth council meetings. There was also discussion regarding asking City staff from other departments, who could provide information on what property the City currently owned, to attend a future Board meeting. There was consensus that the board would use the summer to get organized and come up with a plan to reactivate the youth council in the fall. They agreed to set aside a block of time at the next regular meeting to set dates and formulate a plan for the youth council/teen center. Ms. Wilkinson noted that yesterday was Youth in Government Day and she was told that 22 youth participated. The program was in such high demand that it had to be extended to two days to accommodate all the students. Ms. Wilkinson noted that she sent a sympathy card to .lerry Taylor and his family.
