9:00 a.m. at the Library
Present: Evelyn and Micaela Geathers, Hattie Miller, Willie Pearl Wilson, Steve
Waldman, Steve Miller, Lori Wilkinson, Mary Morera
The theme of the Heritage Fest Parade is "From Obstacles to Opportunities"
All agreed we should recognize Dr. Martin Luther King in the float as well as showcase
how our board supports youth in the community.
We will use a Chew S10 truck to be provided by Dan Morera. In the event this falls
through, we can probably use Ron Washam's convertible.
We plan to decorate the vehicle with balloons and streamers, create posters showing
the board's activities, and have children both walk and ride. Steve Waldman has
posters of Dr. King. Steve Miller will be able to bring children out to participate in the
event.
We need to locate the Advisory Board banner - Sherri?
List of supplies needed (expense to be voted on at Jan. meeting):
Posters, Decorations, Balloons, Streamers, Tape, Markers, Photos enlarged for
display
We need to find pictures of children of different heritages working together on our
volunteer projects. Many pictures are in digital files and will need to be printed for
display.
All board members plan to wear their advisory board shirts. Do we have an extra shirt
for Steve Miller?
Our Feb meeting is on the 26th. We plan to meet early that night (6pm) to complete the
posters and any pre-decorating that can be done. The details will be discussed at the
January 22 meeting. Participants would be asked to arrive at 9am the day of the
parade to complete the decorating. The parade starts at l lam on Saturday,
February 28, 2004.
