Minutes 11-05-04 CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH ADVISORY BOARD ON CHILDREN & YOUTH YOUTH VOLUNTEER BANK HOLIDAY PARTY PLANNING WORKSHOP NOVEMBER 5, 2004, 10:00 A.M., CITY HALL Present: Steve Waldman, Betsy Veaner, Mary Morera, Sherri Claude The purpose of this workshop is to plan a holiday party, as an end of the year thank you, for the Youth Volunteer Bank members. The date, set previously, is December 18, 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Art Center. There was consensus to have holiday and/or pop music (Mary & Sherri will provide CD's), pizza, soda and "make your own" sundaes. Betsy and Steve will develop icebreaker activities. Games, such as bingo, will be played and prizes, such as McDonald's gift certificates, given. All youth who attend will receive a "goody bag." Sherri will prepare the invitation and send out after Thanksgiving. The youth will be encouraged to bring a new unwrapped toy for the "Toys for Tots" program in exchange for volunteer hours. In an effort to garner feedback from the youth regarding types of volunteering they are interested in doing and would like the Board to plan, they will be invited to attend the Board's regular meeting on Thursday, January 27 at 7:00 p.m. An announcement will be made at the holiday party and information will be mailed to all Youth Volunteer Bank members. Mary indicated that she had been in contact with Phyllis Stem from Hunter's Run regarding next year's Termis Carnival. It will be held on Saturday, April 9 from 2-4 p.m. Sheni will ensure that it is advertised in the upcoming issue of Funfare! Magazine, and interested participants will be able to register at City Hall in the Mall. Them was also consensus to schedule dates for the Adopt-A-Spot program for next year.
