CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLO DA, AMENDING
CHAPTER 2 ADMINISTRATION, CTION 2-16, CITY
BOARDS AND COMMI ION; MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS FO APPOINTMENT,
MEMBERSHIP; REVISING BSECTIONS (a) AND (b)
ALLOWING NON-RESID NTS TO SERVE ON
ADVISORY BOARDS; P VIDING FOR CONFLICTS,
SEVERABILITY, CODI CATION. AND AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, the qualificati s of board members is an issue of great importance to

18 FORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF

20 The foregoing whereas clauses are true and correct and are now ratified
21 ed by the City Commission.
22 That Chapter 2. "Administration" Section 2-16. is hereby amended as

Sec. 2-16. City boards and commISSIOns; mInImUm qualifications for
appointments, membership.

(a) in order to qualify for appointment to and to serve as a member of any board or
committee of the city, an individual must be an elector of Palm Beach County,
Florida, and must meet all statutory qualifications to serve, if a11Y~,
(b) In selecting individuals to serve on boards and committees of the city, preference
shall be given to individuals who are residents of the City of Boynton Beach,
provided however that non-residents who own and operate business located
within the city may also qualify for appointment provided they possess
qualifications or experience uniquely suited to deal with the subject matter over
which the board or committee has subject matter review or power. Non-residents
who do not operate or own businesses in the City may also qualifyio serv,c if

Ordinances of the City of Boynton Beach not herein specificall
full force and effect as previously enacted.
Section 4. All ordinances or parts of ordina es in conflict herewith be and the
same are hereby repealed.
Section 5. Should any section or pr Ision of this ordinance or portion hereof,
any paragraph, sentence or word be declar by a court of competent jurisdiction to be
invalid, such decision shall not affect the mainder of this ordinance.
Section 6. Authority is he by granted to codify said ordinance.
Section 7. This ordin ce shall become effective immediately upon passage.
