MINUTES JANUARY 22 2006
Present; Eleanor Daly, Sean Fenton (arrived 4:15), Donna Harmening, Dan
Holthouse, Barbara McGee (arrived 4:20), Valerie Pleasanton, Jeannie Taylor,
Barbara Wilson and Library Director, Virginia Farace.
The meeting was called to order at 4:09 P.M. by Chairman Valerie Pleasanton.
The minutes of December 2, 2005 were approved as presented.

Chairs report: None
Unfinished Business: The library addition is 17% to 200/0 complete. Fifteen
workdays were lost due to the hurricane. The City Commission signed off on the
state agreement for the ~ million doDar grant.
New Business: None
Library Director's Report: Virginia reported that off duty police officers have
replaced the security guards. Their hours wiD be 4:00 P.M. to 8:30 and Saturday
12:00 to 5:00.
The Director reported there were vacancies for 3 pages and an administrative
secretary at the museum.
Virginia described 'Fish', the very successful training workshop for Library
employees held in December.
There was discussion about donations to the book endowment for Jane Northup and
others.
Virginia announced that she completes the maximum 5 years in the city's DROP on
Sunday, Feb 26. She has been Library Director for 35 years. The City Manager has
a policy of not rehiring retirees as employees but is discussing with her other options
for how she can finish the Library expansion project as weD as some other city
commitments.
Announcements: The Friends Book Sale will be March 10 and 11. On March 10 at
5:30 there wiD be a preview party with refreshments ("Books and Bubbly"). This is
a fund-raising event and admission is $20.00.
Barbara McGee reported that it is difficult for her to make 4:00 PM board
meetings. The meeting time was changed to 4:30.
The next meeting will be on February 22, 2006. (4th Wednesday)
