A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING
THE NEW JOB DESCRIPTION AND/OR
RECLASSIFICATIONS, ALL OF WHICH POSITIONS
ARE CURRENTLY FUNDED IN THE 1997/98 BUDGET;
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission, upon recommendation of staff, hereby
approves the new job descriptions and/or reclassifications, as outlined on the
attached Composite Exhibit "A", all of which positions are currently funded in the
1997/98 budget; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach: Florida
does hereby approve the new job descriptions and/or reclassifications, all of which
positions are currently funded in the 1997/98 budget., and which descriptions are
attached hereto as Composite Exhibit "A".

Nature of Work:
POLICE ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT CLERK
This is responsible and specialized secretarial and para-
professional work assisting a division or department head in the
administrative and operational activities of the department.
An employee in this class is responsible for relieving the
supervisor of routine operational and administrative details and tasks.
Work requires the exercise of mature judgment and the application of
knowledge of business or municipal organizations, their operational
procedures and limitations. Employees must keep varied and relatively
complex clerical records and may perform office management details
desighated by a superior. Work is subject to general review of methods
and results, although more important or unusual assignments may involve
careful instructions and supervisory review. Work requires the skilled
use of computers and calculators. Use of typewriter and other standard
office machines. Work is performed under general supervision and employee
works with considerable independence within the scope of established
departmental policies and procedUres.

Under the authority of the Fire Marshal enforces fire statutes, codes and ordinances as necessary. Assists
in the direction and coordination of the activities of the Fire Prevention, Investigation, Safety &
Education Bureau as assigned. Plans for purchase and review of new equipment. Prepares and
administers disciplinary procedures. Work is performed unde~- the general supervision of the Fire
Marshal.

DEPUTY CITY CLERK
Nature of Work:
This is responsible and difficult clerical work. Work of an employee in this class involves
performance of more complex clerical operations and requires application of judgment based
upon knowledge gained through experience It also involves establishing and maintaining a
workable records retention system that conforms with the Florida Division of Archives. Such
decisions are made, however, in accordance with established precedents or departmental
policies. The variety of difficulty differs somewhat among assignments, i.e., organization,
preparation and distribution of City Commission agenda, recording, transcribing, proofreading,
and distributing meeting, minutes, board appointment and appreciation letters, documentation of
board attendance including follow'up, computer indexing of City Commission minutes,
preparation of monthly calendar, advisory board rotation for appointments, research of public
requests for information, assisting in elections, selling burial plots, etc., but when work is
repetitive, there is added responsibility for finality of act on. The more ~d fficult and important
work is performed under close super:vis on Advice is given to the employee on unusUally
difficult or important matters. Employee s required to exercise supervisory authority over
subordinates as assigned.
