The Arts Commission attend Artavox in WPB. Artavox was hosted by the Palm Beach
County Cultural Council, sponsored by the Related Group and partnered with Artist of
Palm Beach County and Palm Beach County, Art in Public Places. It's purpose was "A
Celebration of Artists".
The reason to attend this event was to have the Arts Commission exposed to the Public
Art Community, AIPP program and to establish network opportunities.
Angela Budano, board member, introduced Debby Coles-Dobay to Harvey Oyer III who
wanted to learn about Boynton's AIPP program. Debby informed him about the program
and how it works. He was impressed. The conversation led to the topic of Artist
live/work space opportunity at the Old High School. He was aware of the situation with
the Old High School and was wondering if the Arts Commission wanted to discuss this
opportunity in a special meeting. Members, Debbie Brooks, Angela Budano, Barbara
Lentz, Nubia Richman, Christina Moeller and Halena Wolf said they did. I told them I
would schedule a special meeting to discuss this item.
During the Artavox event, The Arts Commission members, discussed some concepts
that they can deliver to the City Commission on the temporary beautification for the Old
High School. Muralist, Halena Wolf, offered her expertise for the project as well as the
Galaxy Elementary mural project.
The Arts Commission members handed out applications to artists for the Aug. 4, Marina
Summer Fest art exhibit. They also discussed the Avenue of the Arts program with
