Meeting Began: 5:30
Area Superintendent Carole Shetler's office was contacted re holding a meeting with the Principals to inform
them of the Young Artists Contest. She only has 5 schools in the Boynton Beach area and didn't think it would be
useful. Area Superintendent Rod Montgomery is out of town, but his Asst. Bonnie Plucinski suggested that
anything he can do wouldn't be until late Sept anyway, which is too late for this yr.
Jeanne Heavilin is suggesting that we go back to Plan A of distributing packets to schools and following up with a
phone call. She distributed a time line for the showcase with a due date for delivery of 1/2/07. Other dates were
plugged in. August 8-Mailing sent to eligible schools. August 13-14 Follow-up calls to schools. August 31 Call
for entry forms from teachers. October 1-5 follow-up calls to any schools not responding. November 2 all entries
delivered. November 3 all entries logged in and judged. November 3 or 4th Exhibit set up. November 16 Awards
Ceremony and Reception.
A discussion of which schools were in the "Greater Boynton Beach" area ensued. There are approximately 26.
Lori Wilkinson will em ail Principals as well as send the introductory letter and fact sheet by USPS by August 8.
Follow up will be done by members of the two Boards during pre-planning time (Aug 15-21) to speak with Art
teachers. Next meeting Thursday, Aug 9 at 5:30 in the Library Program Planning Room. Meeting adjourned at
6:50.
Respectfully submitted,
Lori Wilkinson
