VII. Comments by Chair
Chair Kaiser read a letter from the City dated August 31, 2007 indicating they accepted
the proposal from the Veterans Council for the Veterans Monument which will be at
Bicentennial Park. It was intended the monument would be the focal point of the park.
The project was in the planning stages and being worked on by the Recreation and
Parks Department. Ms. Rivers would be leading the effort. The City thanked the
Veterans for their generous contribution of time and money.
Mr. Magazine will contact Ms. Rivers and forward information so she could contact the
Veterans Advisory Board about the project. The project was being undertaken by the
Veterans Council not the Veterans Advisory Commission. There was discussion the
Veterans Council needed to coordinate with the Recreation and Parks Department, their
consultants, as well as the Veterans Advisory Commission. The location within the park
for the monument needed to be determined and what would be moved from
Intracoastal Park to the new location would be discussed with the Recreation and Parks
Department.
