LIBRARY ADVISORY BOARD
DECEMBER 13, 2006
PRESENT: Eleanor Daly, Donna Harmening, Barbara McGhee, Valerie Pleasanton, and
Jeannie Taylor

ABSENT: Dan Holthouse-excused, Barbara Wilson
Chairman Pleasanton called the meeting to order at 4:30 P.M.
Director Clark introduced Michael Hall, the Director of the Schoolhouse Museum. Mr.
Hall gave a brief resume of his experience. He will focus on fundraising and grants. He
will offer high quality programs.
The board discussed member Dan Holthouse's attendance. Mr. Holthouse, a valued
member ofthe Board, was serving on jury duty in October, resulting in his absence. The
Board, at their October meeting, in Mr. Hothouse's absence, decided to have a combined
November-December meeting on this date. Mr. Holthouse was unaware of the date
change for this meeting. The Board feels that these absences should be excused.
MINUTES: The minutes of the October 18th meeting were approved by acclimation.
CORRESPONDENCE: None
CHAIR"S REPORT: None. The Board congratulated Valerie for completing her classes
for her MBA.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS: Director Clark reported that the expansion is 'coming
along'. The construction superintendent, Bob Scott, died and John Carr, the architect, has
been ill. The target date to move in to the new building is the spring and the grand
opening is planned for fall. The commission approved one million dollars for furnishings.
The City Attorney has reviewed the draft ofthe unattended children policy. Eleanor Daly
moved that the Board approve the revised draft. Motion approved.
NEW BUSINESS: None
LIBRARY DIRECTORS REPORT: The Director will post the opening for the position
of assistant director. Mike Naughton has filled the network position. He has worked eight
years as a contract employee and will now be full time. Interviews will be conducted for
two technical specialists
The web site has been redesigned. The new web address will be
