Style Sheet
This is a style sheet for Boynton Beach, FL , dated 2/11/04 , prepared by Arr Jay Radler . The following must be answered in as much detail as possible, so future editors
may follow the style and format set by the original and/or previous editors. Each editor must review this sheet. Any significant departure from the original style or format or standard
ALP style or format must be documented.
Capitalization: City of Boynton Beach, cap departments and job titles (e.g. Mayor etc.). Lowercase “city” throughout. LDR: Lowercase “district.” Cap Community Redevelopment Area.
Definition introductions: Use ALP wording unless city indicates specific intro needed (e.g. Part II, § 15-8.2). ALP-- “For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall
apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.”
Division markers: Part II: (a), (1), a., 1. Part III (LDR): A., 1., a., (1)
Footers: E.g.--2004 S-21
Gender: He or she
Histories (ordinance/resolution, old code, state references): No “Am.” or “Amend.” Separate amending ords by a semicolon and that’s it--see code for example. Treat deleted sections
like those in Charter.
Caption format: Italicized.
Material placement:
Numbers: Use symbols for fractions. Part II: Write out numbers zero through nine, 10 and above are numerals. Part III: Write out then numerals in parentheses (e.g. two (2) feet).
Organization/numbering: Retain old code organization and numbering.
Parallel references: Delete material from PR when sections deleted from code.
State references: F.S. for Florida Statutes.
Additional comments: All style notations above apply to all Code Parts unless otherwise noted. Code very inconsistent. Make above changes as you go. Spell out “section” instead of
using “§” in textual references. Use “paragraph” instead of “division.” Use “§” in ed. notes, cross refs, and histories.
