Vision, Opportunity and Action Plan
The Public Art master plan should deliver the elements of the AIPP mission statement:
The City of Boynton Beach Art in Public Places Program
Enriching our Community through Public Art
The Art in Public Places Program is dedicated to create a stimulating cultural environment that
reflects and enhances the City's heritage, diversity, and character. The Public Artwork will vitalize,
stimulate and focus on cultural interaction, amenities, education, business growth and economic
development. The public artwork will be integrated into the architecture, infrastructure, landscape
and green ways of the city. The Art in Public Places program will contribute to a communal sense
of civic ownership and pride, making Boynton Beach "A premier City in Florida in which to live,
work and visit. II
Master Planning workshop Session 2
Today's session's purpose is
· To generate ideas regarding goals for Public Art in specific locations and/or focus areas.
· To generate a shared vision amongst the Arts Commission for the AIPP program
· To include in discussion current AIPP programs, CIP and private development projects to
map out on City wide basis.
· To learn about how Public Art can be incorporated into the infrastructure of build projects.
· To learn how Public Art can impact, educate and transform planned projects into successful
models for urban and ecological renewal.
Results:
To have the Arts Commission have a shared vision for how Public Art can accomplish the
AIPP mission statement including current Public Art projects, and seek opportunities that could
become a Public Art projects.
10 -11:15 a.m. - Discussion
Topic - How can public art define the sectors of our City. What are the key characteristics that
public art delivers to the sectors we have defined?
11:15 -11:30 a.m. - Break
11 :30 - 12:30 p.m. - Presentation by Michael Singer, public artist who creates teams to build
projects that address:
Ecology: Community and Habitat
Energy: Consumption, Infrastructure and Life Cycle
Public Access: Education, Business and Recreation
Water Management: Filtration, Reuse and Responsibility
Architectural Design: Aesthetics and Function
His most recent work has been instrumental in transforming public art, architecture, landscape
and planning projects into successful models for urban and ecological renewal. For more

12:30 p.m. -1:00 p.m. Lunch break
1 :00 - 2 p.m. - Discussion
Topic - How can we integrate public art into our architecture, infrastructure,
landscape and greenways of the City.
