MINUTES OF THE SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING

ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 13, 1997, AT 10:00 A.M.

I. CALL TO ORDER
Vice Chairman Hall called the meeting to order at 10:05 a.m.
II. ROLL CALL
The Recording Secretary called the roll.
III. ACCEPTANCE OF MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 8,1997 REGULAR MEETING
Mr. Bobich moved to accept the minutes of the September 9th meeting. Mr. Magazine seconded the
motion that carried unanimously.
IV SAFETY COMMITTEE EDUCATION AND TRAINING PROGRAM: VIDEO – “PERSONAL
PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT””
Mr. Magazine advised that he would bring various new videotapes to the Safety Committee meetings at
future monthly meetings. The Committee viewed a seven-minute videotape titled, “Personal Protective
Equipment”. This videotape is available for use by the departments through Risk Management.
V. OLD BUSINESS
A. Fire Drills
In the absence of Mr. Borden, no report was available. However, Mr. Magazine confirmed with the
members that they received a Fire Safety brochure with their paychecks last Friday.

B. Accident Review Board Referral
1. Parking Garage Basement Lighting
Mr. Magazine had no information to report. He will check this item with Bill DeBeck.
C. Parking Garage Flooring (i.e. very slippery when wet)
According to Mr. Magazine, this item is still pending. Bill DeBeck advised that this item is supposed to
go out for contract bids. Mr. Magazine will check the status of this project again with Mr. DeBeck.
D. Safety Newsletter
Mr. Magazine urged members to solicit items for the newsletter.
VI. NEW BUSINESS
A. Stop Signs
Mr. Hall requested that this item be tabled until the November meeting so that all members will have an
opportunity to review the information he included in the back-up material for the agenda packet.
VII. ANNOUNCEMENTS
Mr. Magazine referred to the back-up material that included a copy of a flyer itemizing a number of
programs available through the Palm Beach Safety Council.
Mr. Lee reminded all of the members of the City Commission workshop meeting that will take place on
Wednesday, October 15, 1997 in the Library Program Room, for the purpose of discussing the draft
Personnel Policy that will be implemented if Civil Service is eliminated. Mr. Lee said everyone is
welcome to attend, and he urged the members to spread the word about this meeting to all employees.
VIII. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Safety Committee, Mr. Wildner moved to adjourn
the meeting at 10:25 a.m. Mr. Lips seconded the motion that carried unanimously.
