Director Clark announced the death of Pat Servant, an active member of the Friends. An
endowment has been established in her memory.
Unfinished Business:
Construction Update: Extensive mold was found in the roof of the old building. Those problems
have been remedied. The contactor has given a November 12 completion date for the old
building. Director Clark feels a more realistic estimate is January. The Library furniture is in
storage and ready for delivery.
Cafe: The prospective operator has "fallen through". The Commission needs to revoke the
agreement. A new RFQ will be issued.
Meeting Room Guidelines: Director Clark is still waiting on the City Attorney's opinion.
Summer Reading Program: 761 children were enrolled and 361 complete the program.
The adult reading program will start in January. The bags have been ordered.
Non returned items: We discussed the public's reaction to the automated reminder system for
overdue books and the possibility of credit card payment for overdue charges.
Recruitment of Board Members: There is one vacant position on the board and two alternate
positions are open.
New Business: Director Clark read a letter from a Library patron objecting to the cell phone
policy. The Board was unanimous in their support of the present policy.
Director's Report: The monthly reports for July and August were distributed and discussed.
Announcements: The next Board meeting will be on October 22,2008 at 4:00 P.M.
