The current bus schedule had been operating since the Spring. It consisted of one route going east and one going west. However, it has not produced the ridership that the Department of Public Works had expected. A meeting was held at Leisureville a couple of weeks ago. At this meeting, the Supervisor of the Public Works Department pointed out that the cost of operating the current bus schedule was excessive considering the minimal ridership. All the communities that have community associations or condo associations were invited to discuss how to revise the bus schedule. However, because of inclement weather, the turnout was poor. Mr. Eney explained the new bus routes and schedule that is going to be implemented. Ms. Brook suggested posting the new bus routes in churches, public facilities such as the library and the Civic Center, and other places where people gather. Ms. Stranahan suggested that the condo groups post these routes on their bulletin boards and in their clubhouses. She suggested putting the routes in the newspapers, especially the Boynton Times and the Funfare Magazine, and perhaps advertising them on local television stations. Mr. Ackermann distributed copies of the Shopper Hopper maps and bus schedules. He advised that he attended two meetings in the last week at which Larry Roberts, the Director of Public Works, and Joe, the coordinator of the bus routes, presented the bus schedule, displayed maps, and handed out information about the schedules. Mr. Eney advised that the routes will be advertised in the next Leisureville News. Mr. Ackermann advised that the routes will be advertised in the newsletter next week and schedules are available at City Hall. In addition, the Public Information Office sent information about the Shopper Hopper and new bus schedule to various newspapers. 6. Delray Beach already has two senior centers and is opening another one. Discussion ensued regarding the need for a senior center and social services in the City of Boynton Beach. rd Two doctors were supposed to make a presentation at the November 3 meeting about pain management and Alzheimer’s.
