Mr. Landress had an Automatic Electronic Defibrillator (AED) with him and he
demonstrated how to check the machine. The machines should be checked once a
month for damage and cracks. There is a window and if there was a red wrench in it,
the machine needed service. If a battery was needed, a red battery would appear as
well. He demonstrated opening the machine and checking the date on the pads. He
also demonstrated how to remove the battery, and advised the battery was good for two
to three years. Replacement batteries and pads were available at the Warehouse.
Departments that have the machines should check them every month and document it.
