Minutes 08-10-09 MINUTES OF THE SAFETY COMMITTEE REGULAR MEETING HELD ON MONDA V, AUGUST 10, 2081, AT 10:00 A.M. Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m. II. Roll Call Roll call was taken. A quorum was present. III. Acceptance of Minutes of 07/13/2001 regular meeting Motion A motion was made by Ms. Rivers to approve the minutes as written. Ms. Scott seconded the motion that unanimously passed. IV. Safety Committee Education and Training Program There were frequent surges in power at the Civic Center due to FP&L working on the electric lines in the area. Accordingly, the video planned for the meeting was not shown. 1 MeetIng Minute. Safety Committee !:1~"h, FI9rida V. Old Busines. A. Fire Drills ~10, z008 Vice Chair Altman reported there was a fire drill at Intracoastal Park on July 22, 2009. The drill went very well and Fire & Life Safety staff indicated they had the utmost confidence in staff there. Ms. Rivers explained all of the Recreation and Parks centers conducted fire drills. Paperwork on the drills would be sent to Vice Chair Altman. B. Proud to be a Safe Worker Awards None. C. Departmental Inspections & Safety Meetings Chair Bobich thanked the members for emailing their departmental inspections and meetings to him. Members were asked to verify the spreadsheet to ensure their departments were receiving proper credit. D. Defensive Driver Course The course was completed and some individuals already took the course. E. Incident Review Board Referrals None. Ms. Rivers indicated there was an auto accident in Parks that she would check on. It was noted certain incidents that are cut and dry are not reviewed by the Incident Review Board. Chair Babich indicated he would look into the matter further. F. Electrical Flame Resistant Uniforms This item was deferred. The paperwork was ongoing regarding the matter as it pertained to the Safety Manual. G. Safety Manual - 2010 Edition Chair Bobich indicated he hoped to have the Safety Manual updated by October. Members were reminded to review the sections assigned to them by Mr. Magazine. VI. New Business 2 Meeting Minutes Safety Committee .!:rttton. .... h., Florid.. . ., ~1 . ~t 10,2008 A. Departmental Safety Issues None. B. Committee Attendance Mr. Magazine wanted to address this matter, but he was unable to attend the meeting. Members were reminded if they could not attend the meeting, someone else should attend as it was important to get the information to the departments. C. Other None. VII. Announcements The OOPS paperwork regarding Workers Compensation was updated. Anyone needing copies for their department should let Chair Bobich know. Each year the information is updated and color-coded. Chair Bobich has been replacing antiquated information with the new information. VIII. Next Meeting Date: Monday, September 14, 2009, 10:00 a.m. The meetings would be held at the Civic Center in the future. IX.
