SUBSECTION 2-129, ORGANIZATION AND SUBSECTION 2-130,
MEETINGS ; TO PROVIDE THAT SllJDENT MEMBERS OF

WHEREAS, The City Commission has determined that it is in the best interest of the gcncrat

WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida, to
amend Chapter 2. Administration, Article VIII. Education Advisory Board, Subsection 2-129,
Organization and subsection 2-130, Meetings to provide voting dght_s for student members of the
Education Advisory Board and establish an increase in the number of members necessary to

NOW THEREFORE~ BE TT ORDATNED BY THE CITY COMMI'SSZON OF THE CI'TY OF
BOYNTON BEACH~ FLORZDA, THAT:
Section 1. That Chapter 2, Administration, Article VIII EduCation Advisory Board,
~ubsection 2-129 is hereby amended by adding the words and figures., in underlined type and
Jeleting the figures in struck-through type as follows:
Sec. 2-129. ORGANIZATION.
A. The Education Advisory Board shall comprise seven (7) permanent
members and two (2) alternate members, all to be appointed by the city commission.
Of the members so appointed, four (4) shall be for a term of three (3) years, and
three (3) shall be for a term of two (2) years. Their successors shall be appointed for
a term of two (2) years. Alternate members shall be appointed for a period of one
(1) year. There shall also be appointed two high school seniors, who must reside
within the city limits of the City of Boynton Beach and must attend a public school in
Palm Beach County to serve for a term of one (1) year, to be selected by the city
commission. All terms shall expire in the month of April. Student members of the
Education Advisory Board shall en~oy the same votinq privileges as those afforded to

Sec. :2-130. MEETINGS,
A. The Board shall meet regularly once a month, or more frequently if
necessary, for the transaction of business. Its meetings shall be open to the public.
The Board may establish its own rules and procedures for the conduct of its business.

Section 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
Section 3. Should any section or provision of this ordinance or any portion thereof be
declared by a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such decision shall not affect the
remainder of this ordinance.
Section 4. Authority is hereby given to codify this Ordinance.
Section 5. This Ordinance shall become effective immediately upon passage.
