AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, A~4ENDING CHAPTER
15, OFFENSES-MISCELLANEOUS, BY ADOPTING
SECTION 15-16 PROVIDING FOR MANDATORY STREET

WHEREAS, it is important for emergency vehicles within the
City to promptly respond to emergencies within the City; and
WHEREAS, it is further in the best interest of the City that
delivery people, mailmen, tourists and visitors, City Inspectors
and cab drivers and others be able to locate business and
residential premises within the City.
WHEREAS, it is important in order to be located within the
City that distinct numbers be placed on buildings and premises
which are visible from the street.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That Chapter 15, Offenses-Miscellaneous of a
codified ordinances of the City of Boynton Beach, is hereby
amended by the enactment of Section i5-16 which shall read as
follows:
Section 15-16 Mandatory Street Numbers of All Buildings.
(a) The owners and/or .occ.upants of all properties
havin~ a building w~thinthe city limits shall install
and maintain in a cons~icous place a correct street
number of sufficient size.,' ishape' and character, to be
visible and readable from'the adjacent street. In-
correct numbers shall be removed by the owner of the
real estate on which said numbers are located within
thirty (30) days after this ordinance takes effect.
(b) That any building located by the City Building
Department or the Police Department without a number or
an incorrect number shall be notified by mail that they
should place the correct number on the house within
sixty (60) days after receivinq notice.
(c) The terms and .provisions of this section shall
be applicable to all apartments, condominiums or
rental units within multi-family districts where the
entrance to said unit is visible from the public
right-of-way.
(d) Any person who fails to comply with the
provisions of this section foltowinq the aforesaid
notice shall be in violation of the City Code.
(e) The provisions of this ordinance shall be en-
forceable by a complaint initiated by any City Police
Officer or Building Department Inspector and shall be
prosecuted in front of .t~e.'City's Code Enforcement
Board.
(f) The Fire Department and Police Department with
the aid of other cit~.D~partm~n.ts shall establish and
maintain a map of the City, re. flecting the numbers
on buildings herein provided.
Section 2. That all ordinances or 'parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith, are hereby repealed.
Section 3. That should any section or provisions of this
ordinance or any portion hereof be declared by a court of
competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such decision shall not
affect the remainder of this ordinance.
Section 4. This ordinance shall become effective
immediately upon its second reading and final passage.
Section 5. Authority is hereby granted to codify the
provisions of this ordinance.
