A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE
CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, APPROVING
THE PROPOSAL OF SELECT CONTRACTING INC.,
BY PIGGY-BACKING THE CITY OF LAKE WORTH
CONTRACT, FOR THE PURCHASE OF TWO (2) PRE-
ENGINEERED METAL STORAGE BUILDINGS IN THE
AMOUNT OF $168,708.00; AUTHORING THE
MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE SAID
PROPOSAL; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Procurement Services received a request to "piggy-back" the City of
Lake Worth Contract for the purchase of two (2) pre-engineered metal storage buildings;
WHEREAS, the storage buildings will be utilized by several operational
divisions of the Utilities Department to store materials for daily operations, emergency
repair parts, spare pumping equipment and supplies needed during power failures or
storm events.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION
OF THE CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA, THAT:
Section 1. The City Commission of the City of Boynton Beach, Florida,
hereby approves the proposal of Select Contracting, Inc., by piggy-backing the City of
Lake Worth Contract for the purchase of two (2) pre-engineered metal storage buildings
in the amount of $168,708.00; authorizing the mayor and city clerk to execute said
proposal, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit "A".
Section 2. That this Resolution shall become effective immediately.

We ere pleased to provide our proposal for the Pre-Engineered Metal Building portion for the
above referenced project. This proposal is a 'Wrap Around' contract for the construction of
Pre-Engineered Metal Buildings emctad on a concre~ slab.
The Subject Project for comparison is the City of Lake Worth, Golf Course Cart Bam Facility.
The contract date is July 22, 1998 and the project was completed in December of that same
year. The project was quite successful and completed in a timely manner. The construction
included one (1) 50'-0' x 100-O' x 12'-0' pre-enginesmd metal building as manufaOJred by
Star Building Systems, Inc.
The City of Lake Worlh project required removal of inadequate soil and preparation of a
compacted building pad. The pay item r~,ed as 'earmwmk - grade bua 3 pad' included
finish grading for'the building pad. The pay item listed as 'Con(:m~ - prep slab on grade
included digging footings, forming the slab and recompacting the building pad alter excavation.
The 12'-0' x 10-0' ~ Door includes a chain hoist and is designed for SBC 97 with a
110 mph wind load and ere reflected on ltm Apprg:ation and Carlification for Payment at
$1,000. Each lxa~cling spreadsheet reflects the number of doors required by the City of

CLAFUFICATIONS: Select shall apply for the building permits. The City shall provide
drawings and calculations as required by the Building Department for the work that is not a part
of Select's contract. We are providing'two spreadsheets based upon the subject project and
adJustme..n..ts to the project are indicated by line item. These adjustments reflect the cost for
each budding after deducting for those items not used such as demucking and electrical.
Additions are included for Overhead Doors, Gutters and Downspouts.

issuance of building permit and written Notice to Proceed and shall be substantially completed

due to Acts, of God and matters beyond its scope and control.
Calculations and Anchor Bolt setting plans can be provided within four (4) weeks of receipt of a
clarifier building order. Building plans/~ineemd metal building shop drawings can be
submitted wi~in six (6) weeks from the exectdion of a contract.
MODIRCATIONS: Mediflcallons to work (Addilions and Deletions) shall be made in writing and

EXPLANATION: Procurement Services Division received a request from Utilities Department to "piggy-back" the
City of Lake Worth contract for the purchase of two (2) pre-engineered metal storage buildings. The pre*engineered
metal storage buildings are each 50' x 100' x 12' with a 1.12 roof slope. These buildings will be used by several of the
operational divisions of the Utilities Depart~uent to store materials for dally operations. Utilities Department will also
store emergenc~ repair' p~rts, spare pumping equipment and supplies needed during power failUres or storm events.
Utilities Department fs con~tinually operational (7days Weekly/24 hours day) and the materials and supplies stored will
not be in conflict with the Warehouse Division for inventory items.
Procurement Services Division recommends Commi~ion's review, evaluation and approval.
PROGRAM IMPACT: Tl~.e pre-engineered metal storage buildings will provide the much needed space to provide
adequate storage for materials and supplies.
FISCAL IMPACT: The Utilities Department Ires $150,000 allOCated in Reserve-Building Improvements for the
storage building. Based On the price, and Utility Department needs, it is requested to construct two (2) metal storage
buildings at a cost of $168,708.00. The additional funding will be transferred from ReserVe-Future Appropriations.

approved through a "piggy-back" contract. A certified copy of the executed contract is enclosed
for your records. The City issues only one original contract and that document is maintained in
the City Clerk's Office.
Your company's original Certificate of Insurance, naming the City as additional insured, is to be
provided to our Risk Management Department at your earliest convenience. A Performance
Bond and Labor & Materials Payment Bond is also required at this time.
A Purchase Order will be issued when the requested items are received by this office; and the
Notice to, Proceed will be issued at a later date.
