and Accident Reporting VEHICLE ACCIDENT REPORTING: (Regardless of Monetary Loss) All accidents involving city owned vehicles shall be reported as soon as possible to the Police Department
having jurisdiction at the time of the accident. In addition, an internal Risk Management accident investigation report must also be completed and forwarded to Risk Management. EMERGENCY
TOWING POLICY: Any vehicle that has been rendered disabled by being involved in an accident or by other means, and towing is necessary, shall be towed to the Public Works Compound Facility.
The responsible user department shall, on the next scheduled workday, provide a written work/repair request or status report to vehicle maintenance for the effected vehicle. All accident
damage repair work shall be coordinated by Risk Management. Repairs to other vehicles towed to the Public works Compound for mechanical repair work shall be coordinated by Fleet Maintenance.
Individual selection, solicitation, or utilization of outside vendors or privately owned repair facilities, for the purpose of performing repairs or service to City owned vehicles is
strictly forbidden, except vehicles involved in out of town travel during hours that the City shop is closed. When towing services are necessary, Monday through Saturday from 6:00 a.m.
to 5:00 p.m. call Fleet Maintenance at 742-6208, any other time contact the Communications Division (742-6035 or 742-6036), as all towing requests are coordinated through the dispatch
