CITY OF BOYNTON BEACH, FLORIDA ADMINISTRATIVE POLICY MANUAL CHAPTER: 07 City Facilities Policy No. 07.01.01 SECTION: 01 Public Works Compound Policies Page: 1 of 2 SUBJECT: 01 Public
works Compound Policies ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICES: All non-city employees are required to sign the visitor’s log prior to entering the compound area. COMPOUND AREA SECURITY: No privately
owned vehicles, except authorized delivery and service units will be allowed inside the compound area. Any employee having knowledge of unauthorized entry into any City owned facility
should notify the Police Department immediately by dialing 911. COMPOUND AREA SAFETY: All safety policies and procedures outlined in the safety Policy Manual shall be in effect throughout
the area. Pedestrians shall have the right of way, over any vehicle or motorized equipment; however, pedestrians shall avoid deliberate interference with the normal flow of vehicular
traffic. All vehicle/equipment operators shall obey all established traffic directions, either written or posted, including, but not limited to the posted 5 miles per hour speed limit,
all stop signs and the designated “One Way” and “Do Not Enter” signs posted on or around the motor fuel islands. Unnecessary backing of vehicles inside the compound is prohibited, except
into, and out of, designated parking spaces. Vehicles classified larger that (1) ton, shall require a “look-out” or flag person when backing is required. All vehicle/equipment-fueling
operations shall be suspended during underground storage tank re-filling operations. All motorized traffic and open flames or fire will not be allowed within 50 feet of tank fill openings.
The fleet fuel tanks are tested for leaks each month. Each tank must pass the leak test one time per month to meet the environmental standards. The tests are conducted each week on Thursday
mornings between the hours of 1:00 AM and 3:00 AM. Should the test fail on the first & second 1
2 week but pass on the third week, we have met the standards for the month. During the testing period time it is absolutely necessary that no vehicles be inside the Public Works compound
as any ground vibration or dispensing of any fuel product will interrupt the testing and all reports will show a failed test. All vehicle/equipment operators shall shut down engines
and refrain from “smoking” during refueling and while standing on or near the motor fuel island. WAREHOUSE ACCESS: Entrance to the warehouse shall be from established and designated
entrances, not by way of the Public works compound. To process requisitions, pickup or deliver items to/from the warehouse, use the door located on the north side of warehouse. Receiving
or delivering heavy/bulky items or materials will be accomplished by using the east side roll up door, inside of warehouse receiving gate. DEVELOPED BY: Public Works Department EFFECTIVE
