REVISED PURPOSE: To ensure that all employees’ driver’s licenses are valid and to check their driving record for recurring and/or serious traffic violations. POLICY: All departments
that have City vehicles, or personally owned vehicles (POV) used on City business, shall, annually, check their employees driving record with the Division of Motor Vehicles in Tallahassee
through the Risk Management Department. PROCEDURE: 1. Using the form provided by the Risk Management Department, request the driving record of each of your employees who regularly drives
a City vehicle or uses a POV for City business. (NOTE: “Regularly” shall refer to more frequently that two times per year.) You will need to list the employee’s name and address, date
of birth and Florida driver license number. 2. List the names alphabetically and submit the form digitally to the Risk Management Department. 3. When Risk Management receives the records
from the Drivers License Bureau, a copy of the driving record and recommendations will be forwarded to the Department Director. Any employee with a suspended, revoked, or expired Florida
driver’s license will not be allowed to operate a City vehicle or a POV for City business until the license is verified as being valid by the Risk Management Department. 4. It is the
individual employee’s responsibility to notify his/her supervisor of any moving violations incurred whether it is on-duty or off-duty. Failure to notify a supervisor shall result in
disciplinary actions up to and including termination. 1
